Flowering Lawn Seed - Eco Lawn Alternative

from $22.00
For those of you looking for an alternative to the typical water-hogging green lawn, you must try this Flowering Lawn mix! It's a mixture of drought tolerant dwarf grasses, low-growing flowers, and clover. This lawn alternative eliminates the high-maintenance requirements of a conventional grass lawn while it maintains an attractive, always green, low-growing landscape. It requires no fertilization, infrequent mowing and minimal watering even in the dry season.

This mix is very adaptable to a wide range of soil types and growing conditions (with the exception of extremely sandy soil). Once established, it can withstand and adapt to heat, cold, drought, and less than ideal soil. It also stands up well to heavy traffic, as well as dogs and other pets.

Best suited for the following geographical areas: NW, California (with the exception of the extreme inland deserts, and beachfront locations where the soil is basically sand), Rocky Mountain Region, Midwest, NE. It can also be grown in the grass 'transition region', which includes North Carolina west to Kansas.

The flowering lawn mix looks its best with at least 4 hours of direct sunlight per day, and also does great in dappled light. If it gets less than 4 hours, the flowers do not thrive, and over time the clover begins to dominate the mix.

The Flowering Lawn mix specifically includes hard fescue, perennial ryegrass, strawberry clover, white yarrow, baby blue eyes, white alyssum, and english daisy.

To maintain Flowering Lawn, a mowing height of 3 - 5 inches is recommended. Mow approx. 1-3 times a month during the growing season to maintain a uniform appearance. It should be watered only 2-3 times a month during the summer. If watered more frequently, the lawn will grow more rapidly and require more mowing.

Seeding Rate:

1lb. will cover approx. 800 sq. ft.
1/2 lb. will cover approx. 400 sq. ft.
